How often should you actually take movement breaks?

You’ve probably heard: “Take breaks.”

But how often is it actually effective?

The short answer: Every 30–60 minutes.

But it’s not just about frequency, it’s about consistency.

Why breaks matter:

Staying in one position too long leads to:

  • Joint stiffness

  • Muscle fatigue

  • Reduced circulation

Even small breaks help reset your body.

What a good break looks like:

You don’t need a full workout.

Simple options:

  • Stand and stretch

  • Walk around for a few minutes

  • Do light mobility movements

Even 2–5 minutes is enough to make a difference.

What most people do instead:

They wait until they feel stiff or sore.

By then, the buildup has already started.

The better strategy?

Take breaks before discomfort starts.

Set reminders if needed. Make it part of your routine.

If you’re unsure what movements to do during breaks, we can give you a simple routine tailored to your daily work setup.
