Many people assume that fit people are automatically healthy.

The reality is more nuanced.

You can be extremely fit and still have significant movement limitations.

Fitness measures capacity.

Fitness may reflect:

  • Endurance

  • Speed

  • Strength

  • Athletic performance

These qualities are valuable.

True physical health also includes:

  • Joint mobility

  • Movement quality

  • Recovery capacity

  • Balance

  • Coordination

When these areas are neglected, problems can develop despite impressive fitness levels.

The athlete example:

It's common to see highly trained athletes dealing with:

  • Chronic pain

  • Recurrent injuries

  • Mobility restrictions

because performance and health aren't always identical goals.

Aim for both.

The ideal approach combines physical fitness with physical resilience.

That's what supports long-term movement and wellbeing.

Physiotherapy can help identify hidden limitations that may affect your health even if you're already active and fit.
