Why pain during everyday activities shouldn't be considered normal

Many people assume aches and pains are simply part of getting older.

They're not.

Pain may be common but it's not normal.

If everyday activities cause discomfort, it could indicate:

  • Reduced mobility

  • Muscle weakness

  • Joint irritation

  • Movement dysfunction

Activities that shouldn't hurt:

While occasional discomfort can happen, routine tasks like:

  • Walking

  • Climbing stairs

  • Getting out of a chair

  • Carrying groceries

shouldn't consistently cause pain.

Why early action matters:

Ignoring symptoms often allows them to:

  • Become chronic

  • Affect daily life

  • Require longer recovery periods

Small problems rarely stay small forever…

Addressing issues early is often easier than waiting until they become significant.

If everyday activities are becoming uncomfortable, a physiotherapy assessment can help determine why and what can be done about it.
