Why Flexibility Changes Throughout the Day

Have you ever noticed that touching your toes feels easier at certain times of the day?

You're not imagining it.

Flexibility isn't fixed.

Your flexibility can change based on:

  • Activity levels

  • Temperature

  • Fatigue

  • Hydration

  • Time of day

Why movement helps:

As you move, circulation improves and tissues become more pliable.

This often allows greater movement than when you've been sitting still for hours.

What this means for stretching:

A poor flexibility test in the morning doesn't necessarily reflect your true mobility.

Context matters.

Focus on long-term trends.

Rather than judging flexibility on a single day, pay attention to how your movement changes over weeks and months.

If flexibility feels inconsistent or continues declining, physiotherapy can help determine whether mobility restrictions are contributing.
