Why your body feels older than it really is

Many people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s say the same thing: "I feel much older than I am."

While aging does affect the body, age isn't always the main reason for stiffness, aches, and reduced mobility.

What often causes the problem:

The real issue is frequently:

  • Less movement

  • More sitting

  • Reduced strength

  • Lower activity levels

The body adapts to whatever demands are placed on it.

Use it or lose it.

When movement decreases:

  • Muscles weaken

  • Mobility declines

  • Endurance drops

  • Everyday activities become harder

The good news:

Many of these changes are reversible.

Regular movement, strength training and mobility work can significantly improve physical function at any age.

Age matters, but habits matter more.

Your body responds remarkably well when given the right stimulus.

If you're feeling older than your years, physiotherapy can help identify what's limiting you and create a plan to get you moving better again.
